Trent Alvey

Trent Alvey, Trustee. A visual artist, Trent’s work has been displayed in New York City, Vancouver, Windhoek, Salt Lake City and the National Gallery for Women in the Arts in Washington DC.

Rick Bass

Rick Bass, Trustee. Rick, an avid conservationist, is the accomplished author of The Life of Rocks, Where the Sea Used to Be, Colter, The Sky The Stars The Wilderness, The Book of the Yaak, Platte River, The Ninemile Wolves, Winter: Notes from Montana, Oil Notes, The Watch, The Deer Pasture, Wild to the Heart, In the Loyal Mountains and Lost Grizzlies: In Search of American Wilderness.

Peter Gerity

Peter F. Gerity, Trustee. Dr. Gerity has held research fellowships from the National Institutes of Health, National Science Foundation at VPI and Duke University’s Oceanographic Institute. Currently, Pete is the Vice President for Academic Affairs at New Mexico Tech University.

Doug Peacock

Doug Peacock, Trustee.  Doug is the author of Grizzly Years, Baja, Walking It Off and The Essential Grizzly: The Mingled Fates of Men and Bears. Doug Peacock is an award winning writer and cinematographer. Doug’s ferocious commitment to wildness is the ethical benchmark for all Round River efforts.

Michael Soule

Michael E. Soulé, Trustee Emeritus.  Former president of the The Wildlands Project and former chair of Environmental Studies at U.C. Santa Cruz, Michael’s fieldwork has included studies of genetic variation and island biogeography. He is the author or editor of several books on conservation biology and was the founder of the Society for Conservation Biology.

Randall

Randall Tolpinrud, Trustee.  Randall received his BA in Philosophy and MA in Philosophy and Environmental Studies from the University of Utah.  He is a founder  and current president of the Pax Natura Foundation. The Pax Natura Foundation is currently involved with avoided deforestation carbon finance under evolving UNFCCC REDD protocols in Costa Rica and Tanzania.  Other project locations include Bolivia, Brazil, and Uganda.


Pic Walker

Pic Walker, Trustee. Prior to joing the board, Pic was involved with Round River as a foundation program officier, advisor and consultant. At Blu Skye Sustainability Consulting, Pic developed and implemented sustainability strategies for Fortune 500 companies. Prior to this, he worked at the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation. He was a charter member and co-developed the Wild Salmon Ecosystem Initiative, a $190 million effort to have a substantial and measurable impact on the long-term sustainability of wild Pacific Salmon. Pic has worked with several conservation organizations including Conservation International, CI-Guatemala, and Rainforest Action Network. He holds a B.A. from Middlebury College and an M.B.A from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.

John Ward

John D. Ward, Trustee. Spokesperson for the Taku River Tlingit First Nation.  John, through his private consulting firm, provides land planning and organizational assistance to First Nations in British Columbia and the Yukon Territory.

Terry Tempest Williams

Terry Tempest Williams, Trustee.  Terry is an accomplished writer. Her writings include Pieces of White Shell: A Journey to Navajoland, Coyote’s Canyon, Refuge, An Unspoken Hunger: Stories from the Field, Desert Quartet, An Erotic Landscape, Leap, and Red, Passion and Patience in the Desert.

 

Round River Science Advisor

Daniel Doak, Science Advisor.  Associate Professor of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, University of California, Santa Cruz. Dr. Doak specializes in field research on the ecology of plants and mathematical modeling. Dr. Doak has used his models to analyze the biological basis of management decision for species that include the spotted owl, desert tortoise, grizzly bear and sea otter.
