Latin America Director
Mateo earned an MSc in Biodiversity & Conservation from the University of Leeds (UK) in 2011. His international project experience includes African wild dog research, Costa Rican cloud forest reforestation, and Peace Corps Bolivia agriculture and forestry extension. His recent projects include mountain red fox and wolverine research in Washington’s Cascades Mountains and monitoring the effects of oil and gas development on wildlife in southwestern Wyoming. Mateo has co-led programs in Botswana and Patagonia, and as our current Latin America Program Director, he takes the lead on developing and coordinating research in Chile and Costa Rica.
